I Don't Know Either
I am here today to talk about the mysterious phenomenon known as "I am sitting right next to you and missed the exact same thing." Have you ever been in a movie and you missed a certain line, at which point you turn to your friend and ask "what did he say?" and they respond, "I don't know." This is an extremely frustrating situation. Sometimes I wanna yell are you even watching the movie or are you just sitting there with your mind just wandering around in that shell of yours we call a body. I mean what are the chances that the person next to you misses the same line you missed on multiple occasions. Not to mention, it happens with different people!! You may be saying to yourself that they just said that to get back to their movie, and while that may be true for a small percentage of the time, I know a genuine "I don't know" when I see one. This thought came to my mind the other day when I was in lecture, and there were at least 3 points where I asked my classmate sitting next to me for re-assurance that what I just jotted down was what the professor just said, and on all occasions they replied with a puzzled look and said "I'm not sure"..."I missed that." After the first time i said to myself, "ok cool", but when it happened again, and then again, i had to restrain myself. You are sitting here looking at the professor who is no more than 15 feet in front of you typing your notes down into your laptop, and you don't know a single thing they are saying?! Sadly enough these are the times we live in. I hope that one day, just one day, I will be seated next to someone who does NOT miss the same parts I miss, and someone that misses the parts that I do NOT miss so that I don't have to say, "you know what...I don't know either" *SHRUG*
